In an attempt to prove that she wasn't crazy (even if only to herself), Wind sculpted the creature. That way she could show it to her mother and grandmother. Unfortunately the only response she got was "Wow, you really have an imagination! I'm going to try and make one out of scrap!"
Grandma thought it was great. Wooooo! (she was getting a little crazy in her old age)
Eventually having this new 'friend' hanging around became a normal part of life. Though Wind did wonder why she never saw her anywhere else other than at home
