Generation 8 - Chapter 1

*Being as how Cherish is only a toddler and she's now the current heir, the beginning of her life will be mostly from Wind's point of view, since she's back to being the head of the house.

Jonas was dead. 

Candace was dead. 

Wind now had a teenage son, her granddaughter, and a baby on the way. 

And life was about to get even crazier.... 

Wind tried desperately to contact Wilson. He needed to know what happened so he could act quickly. Then there was Jonas' burial and his will and the paper work to make Cherish her dependent. Wind tried focusing on the tasks so she wouldn't have to feel the shock and pain. 

Wilson wasn't answering because he was already busy. He too had seen the photos the police were able to finally restore. But he didn't stop looking after the first two showing Candace. He saw the ones showing someone else.. 

When had Emmaline and her daughter started working at the cafe?? 

While Wind was in the midst of great shock and loss. Wilson was working with the police to track down and arrest Emmaline and her daughter. They found her working at the run down diner shortly after the, unknown to them, death of Jonas. 

On the night of Candace's disappearance, the head cook of the cafe had become mysteriously ill and upon the suggestion of the head cook at the diner, Emmaline was sent over to help out.... 

Emmaline was put into a maximum security cell that was heavily guarded while the police questioned her daughter. It didn't take much for her to start talking. She hated her mother with a passion but was too afraid to do anything about it. 

"My mother has been dealing in dark magics for quite sometime. Long before I was even born. She forced me and my siblings to learn it too and help her with spells. We were made to swear oaths not to tell. Not even Dad knew, thought I have no doubt it's why they never lived together or had a close relationship. She doesn't get close to people. She needed Jonas for a spell....well actually, she needed a child born of Fae Magic and Pure Imagination and of her own line. She needed one of us to have a child with Jonas so she could use that child's blood to perform a spell that she believed would giver her ultimate power and immortality." 

When she stopped talking the room was silent. Was this dark magic real or was Emmaline just crazy? If she needed Jonas so bad, why would she drive him to death like she had? And what exactly is Pure Imagination anyway? 

Then Wilson spoke up: 

"The reason the Fae had been hiding in Riverview was to watch for a Sprite that had the potential to protect our race and give us true immortality. We never found it. Then the Vampires came hunting and we had to leave. But the Sprite did come. It came to my daughter Wind. She is the only one that the Sprite appeared to, but being only half Fae, it drove her to the edge of insanity. Which is what led them to come here. They were escaping that which we had been searching for, but not before it got her pregnant. With Elgon." 

Wilson and his daughter looked at each other across the interrogation room table. Things clicking into place. Elgon had no manifestation of Fae blood. But Jonas did. That's why Emmaline had befriended June, to secure her place in the family through Wilson. 

"I think her desire for power made her insane. Did she really think killing Candace would make Jonas agree to marry you?" One of the detectives asked the girl 

"I have no idea! I have been trying to talk sense into her ever since their wedding but she wouldn't listen to a word I'd say! I think she was so determined to have things her way that if it didn't happen, she'd destroy it all." 

The Council met for an emergency session that lasted all through the night. They came to the decision that Emmaline was to be executed by Wilson's hand but that the daughter and other children were to be spared. It would be a public display of authority and word was spread through the town that all those wishing to witness should meet at the town square at noon.
