Generation 8 - Chapter 10

Fatima embraced her new found freedom with passion. She is always so happy. Cherish thought riding the spring horse in the rain was a dumb idea herself. She had more important things to do.

Like study. High school was going to be a lot harder she had heard. She wanted to make sure she got top marks right from the start. New year at a new school meant new challenges. Cherish was never going to be a popular kid, not that she cares about stuff like that. But she didn't want to be bullied anymore. Called 'freak' or 'orphaned Annie' anymore.  GG Wind thought everyone around here was wonderful and nice and accepting. Tell that to the cliques that ran the schools . GG Wind kept pushing her to sign up for after school activities. Drama, Debate, Sports, Pick one! Make friends! Cherish wasn't really into group activities. Or friends.

The idea of playing in the rain with Fatima didn't seem so dumb anymore. Sure there was an age gap, but Fatima never had anything bad to say to her. They always had fun together. They used to spend hours playing make believe, or building things out of blocks of wood or couch cushions.
Just....That age gap did seemed a lot bigger now than before. Things she used to LOVE doing now seemed too childish for her, or held no interest at all anymore. She didn't feel like a grown up like she thought she would, but she definitely wasn't a little child anymore.

With a sigh she went over to the small plants she had growing in GG's office. One of the things she had recently discovered about herself was the ability to coax plants into growing faster and bigger. It made her feel...something inside. Not happy, more like accomplished? Productive? GG said it was important to be productive. It was in every sim's nature to want to be productive in some way.

Growing plants made her feel less sad. She was encouraging life to grow! SHE was doing it. It was something that came from inside of her. And if the plants bore fruit others could eat, that was productive, right?
She had learned the hard way that coaxing them too much usually lead to dead plants.

Since she could only do so much with the few plants she had indoors, she moved onto other things. Cherish hated feeling restless. At odds with the world around her. Brenton used to play chess with her when she felt like this. Now he was too busy with his girlfriend. Ew. They were off celebrating his birthday together. Alone. It was the first time any of them had celebrated a birthday without a big family party. He would be graduating in the spring. Probably going off to college. Another person leaving her life. She wondered of there would at least be cake at some point. She hit the simfu dummy half heartedly. It had belonged to Grandpa Elgon. She missed him.

  1. Cherish feels so alone, I feel so bad for her. Kids can be cruel with these cliques and she is at the age where fitting in means everything. She has also had so many people leave her life that she is afraid to lose any more. Brenton becoming an adult was difficult for her to take. She really needs a friend.

Great to see the Solo family back :)

    1. I'm glad they're back too.
Yeah, Cherish. She had a rough start to life and way too much loss as she got older. I know Fatima is younger but at least her closest friend is also a fairy. That helps
      Thanks for stopping by

  2. Aww poor Cherish. It's sad she is having such a hard time. Kids can be so cruel! I'm glad she's maybe finding some passion in life that makes her feel less alone. I hate sadness that seems to consume her and the connections she had made with Fatima and Brenton are changing.

    1. She is having a hard time. Esp now that she's a hormonal teen on top of it all. She doesn't handle change well and who can blame her? At least she found a connection to her plants. Having something to focus on can help her deal with things.
      Thanks for coming by!

  3. Aww, I feel so bad for poor Cherish, she seems so lonely what with the age gaps and school. I hope things start to look up for her and that her birthday wish comes true soon.

    1. I hope so too. She's been through a lot in her relatively short life. Thankfully high school is temporary and as fairies, she and Fatima with have each other for a long time after her little great aunt grows up. ^_^
      Thanks for reading!

  4. Oh, Cherish. I hope your GG Wind tells you how loved you are. I hope she tells you about how in love your parents were, how evil Emmaline was, and how much they all sacrificed to keep her safe. I hope Wind tells you how may friends you really have (I'd count the GS community as her friends) so you don't feel so alone. Maybe when she ages up to YA we can send her a virtual 'GS Card' to tell her how much we're all pulling for her.

    1. You're so sweet Holly. Cherish could use some lifting up. Maybe when she's older she can meet some of the distant GS family
      Thanks

  6. Oh Cherish! Gosh, it makes me want to cry that she's having such a hard time. Kids can be so cruel and she's at such a tough age. She's experienced so much pain in her life and things seem to change all the time.

Like Holly said, all the GS community is pulling for her, and we'll gladly send her a Thinking of You card and piles of happiness.

    1. I know. Poor Cherish. It's like the worse off you are, the more other kids want to pile it on.
I'm glad she has such a support group rooting for her! She can use all the positive thoughts she can get!
      Thanks!

  7. Poor Cherish, I'm glad that she at least has Fatima. I wonder if that'll last though :/ The age gap can't be making this easy, and once Fatima becomes a teenager as well they might be too different to get along well. But I AM glad that Cherish has found a few hobbies and can feel accomplished! :)

    1. She and Fatima are total opposites and you know hoe opposites attract. The age dif is def a prob. But they're both fairies so it will eventually even out. Hopefully they'll still be friends.
Hobbies are good. WIND is right about feeling productive. It can change your while outlook on life.
      Thanks for your comments.

  8. It's beautiful the relationship Fatima/Cherish. There is an age gap, yes, but at least Fatima still makes Cherish think on something else than her sadness.
Fatima is so cute, she indeed looks like her mother.

    1. I love the relationship those to have! Fatima is full of life and optimism and it's really good for Cherish to be around her. Thankfully, as fairies, that age gap won't be there for long. (sometimes I wish Fatima was the heir!)
