Generation 1 - Chapter 6

Raising a baby is hard. Raising a baby by yourself is especially hard. Raising a baby you weren't planning to have by yourself must be harder still.

Still, Constance knew this small, fragile baby needed her. She wasn't going to totally mess up.

She was on her computer trying to finish her latest book every chance she had.

Sometimes she slept on the couch downstairs because it was too hard trying to get rest while sharing her room with Jane.

"Hey Meadow. Just checking in. Haven't heard from you in a while. Want to come see the baby? Call me when you get this message."

So much for having a friend to lean on...

That baby sure could cry! All night long! Now she understood why new parents so often looked like zombies.

She ended up down at the courthouse to settle things with Hal. She was officially given full custody of Jane and Hal had full custody of Joan.

"I wonder if he's having as hard a time as I am?" YAWN "Nah, he probably has some young girlfriend that just LOOOOVES babies over all the time" > :-(

Constance was getting stressed out! She desperately wanted her alone time back. Not only because that's how she preferred her life, but also because she had to provide for her child. She NEEDED to work. Yet the reason she needed to work so much was the same reason she didn't have time to work!

Somehow they made it. Day by day. Week by week. She knew she wasn't the best mom in the world, but Jane seemed to be doing well enough. Still, her one year birthday totally sneaked up on her. She didn't even buy a cake :-/

  1. N'aww, poor Jane, growing up without a cake :( Still, she's too young to remember it, really, so she'll be fine!
Whatever happened to Meadow? They could have had a small birthday party! :P
I'm surprised that Hal agreed to take custody of Joan, he seems like the kind of guy who wants nothing to do with babies!
