Generation 5 - Chapter 18

Megan Cho

Megan Cho is the name of Elgon's betrothed. Wind was not sure how she felt about her 'baby' having a betrothed. Megan came from the richest family in Hidden Springs. She was the youngest of 4. So that made her not a priority in the family line and since Elgon was human with a fairy mother and a unknown father, it was the best match possible. Wilson was extremely pleased at the match. It was better than he had hoped for.

Now there are all kinds of formalities and social displays expected of the families involved. Since Elgon was the lesser in the match, it was on Wind to approach and gain public acceptance of the match (even though they agreed to it privately) Politics! Wind had no taste for it! But it was suck it up or leave and Elgon had made the choice for them to stay. Wind was pretty sure he had no real concept of what that meant for him and his future...

Elgon was starting to get it. He wasn't so sure he made the right decision anymore.

They had to throw a party. Not just any party, an extravaganza of parties. All the social elite had to be invited to witness the family gifting the Chos in hopes of gaining their approval. Elgon was bored bored bored!

Here is Mrs. Cho being introduced by Wilson

And Mr. Cho

"I think your family will be a wonderful addition to our own. Your Elgon is quite charming! You're familiar with our terms, are you not? We require him to have the best education money can buy..."

They were also introduced to Wilson's new wife, Emmaline

Anyone recognize that walk?

The social elite were there to witness the Chos accepting Elgon's proposal. After the party Wind had to go searching for Elgon. He had hidden himself away in the back office to escape into a video game.

"Are you packed and ready to go? Your taxi will be here early in the morning to take you to prep school"
"Yeah, yeah mom. I'm ready....."

The party went late into the night. It would have been unheard of to ask everyone to leave so Wind and Elgon had to grin and bear it. The end result was worth. Everyone said it was the best party of the year and they looked forward to the wedding ceremony in the future.

For a long time after Elgon was in bed, Wind stood over him watching him sleep. What had she done? Was this the best for him? Would he hate her for it later? When he was old enough to fully understand that his future was planned out without him? According to Wilson, unless one of them died, there was no way to call it off.

She missed her mom. She would have known what to say or do. Or at least been a shoulder to cry on. Leaving Elgon under the watchful eyes of the butler, Wind walked down to visit her mother's grave.

Having a good cry helps sometimes

The next morning Elgon left for boarding school. Would he be the same little boy when he came back?

  1. Now there's a name I remember!! I believe Emmaline is evil? :D I feel bad for Elgon and Megan, that their futures are planned out like this before they can really grasp themselves what's being decided. Especially Megan!! Poor thing is just a toddler :(

    1. I've known people IRL that had arraigned marriages. They had the option to back out if they didn't think the other person what right for them. The fairies take things much more severely :-P
At this point in the game it didn't know she was evil or that she was living in a separate house from Wilson. She def added some drama to the game. SHe as like a less fun Ellen Towner.
