Generation 8 - Chapter 13

Cherish always had dirt under nails. Other kids noticed and of course commented in rude ways. But Cher stopped noticing. In fact she had become so content with her work in the garden the other students noticed that as well. When their insults stopped getting responses of any kind they got meaner. Telling her she was cursed. That she should have died with her parents. What was wrong with her that everyone around her died or moved away?

Cherish paid them no mind. Yes her parents were dead, along with most of the rest of her family. That didn't mean they were gone. For the most of Cherish's life she thought it was normal to have ghost parents. It wasn't until she was older and the teasing started that she learned otherwise. Whenever things like that got to her, some misty loved one was right there to tell she was loved. That she was unique and special. The other kids were just jealous that they couldn't still hang out with their dearly departed family. After a while, even there most vile comments washed right over her and eventually the teasing stopped.

She even knew the ugly truths about each of their tragic deaths. Even though she had a connection to ALL her family members, it was still Grandpa Elgon she was the closest to. He couldn't deny her the truth when she finally demanded it from him. Were her parents really so in love one couldn't live without the other? Would Cherish ever feel that kind of love? Why had Wilson not protected himself better? Or let someone else execute Emmaline? Elgon and Fabian dying of old age Cherish could understand. Dying because you loved someone too much? Didn't her daddy love her enough to live?
"One day you'll understand sweet Cher." Grandpa whispered to her as she wept

Her plants meant everything to her. The garden is where she spent all her free time. Occasional she was interrupted by her phone. Boys from school had started calling her and asking to meet them places. She always said 'no thank you' and hung up as. She assumed they were just trying to set her up for some embarrassing prank. Things like that used to get to her, make her feel small. Now, she didn't think about it beyond putting her phone back in her pocket.
But the boys had noticed she was different lately. Somehow mature and interesting all of a sudden.

Fatima was always outside with the horse. A spring rider is nothing compared to the real thing! Cherish was glad for it because they chatted together while they were both out there. Fatima was growing up pretty fast and would be joining her in high school next year so things were starting to feel like they used to between them.

Cherish was very glad that she and Fatima were getting close again. Brenton had told his mom that he was moving out. Instead of finishing high school he decided to get his GED online and wanted to be out on his own. Cherish did not like this idea.

Cherish wasn't there for the conversation but somehow GG seemed to be ok with the whole thing. She said something about Brenton feeling out of place in a house full of fairy girls.

Brenton made a point of saying goodbye to her and Fatima. Fatima cried and asked him not to go. He was her big brother after all. Cherish went back outside to her garden. Someone else left her. Why does everyone leave?

That night Grandpa Elgon came and this time he sat and watched over her the whole night.
"You know Cher, people leaving isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes you have to think about whats best for them instead of what you wish would happen for you. He's not leaving YOU, he's simply starting his own life a short distance away. Besides you have Fatima's big birthday coming up to celebrate!"
Cherish rolled over and tried to ignore him. She was sure he was right but she didn't have to like what he said.

  1. Aww, how sweet to see the scenes with Grandpa Elgon! I'm glad she is learning the truth about her and her parents' pasts. That's a few lifetimes of hurts, I'm not sure I could process it all. Those kids at school are MEAN! Oh it makes me wanna slap them! I understand kids teasing, but the meanness just gets to me. Poor Cher, Brenton leaving. It's good that Grandpa gave her some perspective, even if she can't see it that way just quite yet.

    1. Her life history combined with being teased at school, it's a miracle she can get herself out of bed. Having her favorite grandpa around has been good for her. esp since she new him alive as well.
      Thanks for the comment

  2. Aww yay!!! So glad that Cherish has stopped being bothered by those rude kids. It's true (in some cases) that once you ignore the bullies they eventually get tired and move on to something else. She's a pretty girl and I am not surprised she's caught the eye of some boys. I understand her reluctance to believe they are interested though.

I felt bad when she asked about Jonas. The fact he didn't love her enough to live. :( I can understand how that would make her feel bad. I think she will have that kind of love one day. There will be someone that comes along when she least expects it and will change her outlook on the world. :)

    1. When she stopped caring what other's think of her (not that she would ever admit to it) life got a lot easier! Boys though, they're still another species to her.

It is sad what happened to them. Jonas died of a broken heart for sure. Hopefully there is some sim out there somewhere that can show her that kind of love. It would be good for her and help her understand her dad.
      Thanks for the comment!

  3. Aww. Well I am glad Cherish has learned to ignore the bullies. If you need a special someone for her just let me I know I could bring one up! I have several. Or a donor if you so pleased. I did feel bad at her asking about Jonas not loving her enough to live on. That is enough to make anyone feel bad. I hope she can find more to life then just her plants. I can't wait to see what else you have in store for. Can't wait for your next update.

    1. Thanks for the offer! I will keep that in mind. So far I am not sure whats going to happen for her in the love dept. She has shown no interest in game, and as much as I love the premade sims of DV none of them are standing out to me for her. But she's a fairy, so I have LOTS of time to figure it our ;-)
      Thanks for commenting!

  4. It looks like Cherish has developed a thick skin, kids can be so cruel sometimes. I love her relationship with Elgon and that picture where he is watching her sleeping makes him look like her guardian angel. Hoping you find the right sim for her she deserves to have some happiness in life.

I think she is going to be a hard one to fine a good mate for. Luckily I have LOTS of time with her to figure it out. ;-)

  5. It's good to see Cherish developing a thick skin. That can be hard. Those meanies are just MEAN! Makes me want to punch 'em. :(

It's good that she has Grandpa Elgon to talk to. It has to hurt to know her parents' pasts but at the same time, she can try to come to grips with it now that she knows. Poor girl has had such a hard life. It's good she has a talent and can put her energies into her plants.

    1. Having something to focus on and feel good about makes it easier to ignore those that would tear you down. She's never really cared what others thought of her, it was the being singled out that hurt her. Now that she doesn't care about that, life is a lot easier.

I'm glad she had the living Elgon around for a while. Having a close bond with him has helped her her whole life.

  6. Cherish's garden is looking so lovely and green! I'm glad that she's got a place all to herself where she can be herself and enjoy life, and no doubt her plants are going to pay her back for it :3 Good luck with that LTW!

  7. Very true what Elgon said, "Sometimes you have to think about whats best for them instead of what you wish would happen for you. He's not leaving YOU, he's simply starting his own life"... Brenton isn't dying but just living his life.
Ohh, kids can be rude sometimes... but I'm glad Cherish seems not to care too much about what others think about her.

    1. Cherish is both childish in her want to keep everything the same AND coming more into her own and having a strong sense of self that lets her no longer care about what others say to/about her.

She's been through too much in her life not to have issues here or there I think
