Generation 8 - Chapter 2

The town was oddly quiet and still. Not even the birds were singing. It was like even they knew the seriousness of the day. It had been many hundreds of years since the last fairy execution. The Solo family waited. It wasn't excitement or fear. It was more like vindication, a righteous sense of payback.

Emmaline walked across the square as if she had nothing in the world to fear.

The family had the right to face her and accuse her. Abuse her even.
First Wind promising her a slow and painful death.

Then Elgon. He hoped to see remorse in her eyes for destroying his family. But clearly she was beyond anything resembling empathy or regret.

Wilson went last. Being a member of the council, and of the family to suffer, and the ex-husband he had the right to be executioner.

"You will pay for your crimes. Death is all that is left for you. You are evil to the core and no one will mourn you. Your body will be burned and your ashes poured into the ocean so no magic could possibly bring you back. Your family is shamed and will hold no position of power for 100 years. Do you have anything to say?"

"Hahah! You think you can simply wish me away? I am IMMORTAL! You cannot kill me you silly man! It is I who will kill you! Along with the rest of your pathetic family!"

"What is wrong with you?! You are at Death's door and you want to threaten me? I am done with you."

Before anyone could react Emmaline did some very quick spellwork and cast it upon Wilson.

"Victory is mine!" She shrieked

Wilson is a very strong and old Fairy and used his own magic to crush Emmalines throat. He had not planned on destroying her in such a slow and painful way, but after all she had done, he felt she deserved to suffer with much as he could bring himself to inflict upon her.

knowing his magic was true and she could not defeat it, Wilson gave into the spell that was tearing him apart. He collapsed, dead, at her feet before anyone could react

Emmaline could not save herself and died there with him.

It was almost like a sick joke for them to died in such a way. Together. Yin and yang. Good and evil.

The town was heartbroken. Hero and victim. But at least the evil had been vanquished. A monument would surely be built in his honor

Wind, Brenton, and Fabian returned home to comfort each other. Cherish had been left with a sitter. No child should have to witness death.

"It's all over sweet child. You're safe from her."

To make a long day longer, Wind went into labor shortly after dark.

And gave birth to a little fairy girl. Meet Fatima.

On the ride home from the hospital, Fabian declared that he could not longer stand to live in Hidden springs.

"The fairies. The politics. The magic and drama! We need a new place to call home. Away from all the heart ache. You know no one will let us be even with Emmaline gone."

The family gathered. Packing up children, animals, and only the most prized possessions...

And they left.

Goodbye Hidden Springs.

Bonus:

Elgon's wife died

  1. (seems cruel to call Elgon's wife's death a bonus! :P)

Oh no! :( poor Wilson :( With all those fairies dying in your challenge I could almost think that you're fed up with playing them! :P And I'm suspicious, btw. I'll expect Emmaline to jump out for a while yet. And I don't fully trust her daughters. I want to believe that what she said is true, but she could just as easily have been lying. What are 100 years to a fairy?

And why is it I never realise when a new generation starts??

    1. Haha. I guess I should.edit that to say "bonus pic" or something

I'm not gonna lie, i am a bit tired of fairies. They live sooooo long and until HS I had kept the whole family line in one house until they died off. But at the same time, it's nice having them around for generations

Yeah. Poor Wilson. But it was poetic I think.
